Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine, which is responsible for pathology of the organ of vision. The best reward for an ophthalmologist is his recovered patient.

Everyone visits the ophthalmologist sooner or later. Even a healthy person over 40 has some natural changes in visual acuity. Eyesight gives a person 80% of information about the world. Therefore, every eye disease that occurs under the influence of various factors causes a lot of inconvenience. And the ophthalmologists can help you then.

The modern diagnostic and surgical equipment of the Ophthalmology Department at RRCRM&HE allows to identify and treat various eye diseases exactly and accurately.

There are general reception rooms, a glaucoma room, a room of functional research visual analyzer method, a room of laser treatment mode, Reception Department for 40 beds at the Ophthalmology Department.

Adjustment of contact lenses of leading manufacturers is carried out in the surgical department of consultative clinics.

At the stage of diagnosis of eye diseases the most modern equipment and techniques are used:

  • The indications for surgery are:

  • The pathology of the lens.
  • 1. Cataract of any cause that reduces the visual acuity up to 0.3 or lower, in the presence of social reasons (loss of the profession) - 0.5 and higher.

    2. Cataracts (congenital, traumatic, etc.) for children of all ages.

    3. Dislocation of the lens with a significant reduction in vision not corrected by optical means (including those with Marfan's syndrome, etc.

    4. Postoperative and post-traumatic aphakia (IOL implantation).

    Currently, the department conducted various kinds of operations for cataract - the traditional extracapsular almost pushed into the past, and streaming Surgery "small" cuts - ultrasonic phacoemulsification and mechanical phacofragmentation through a self-sealing "small"

    The post-chamber intraocular lens of domestic and import production are implanted in 100% of cases regardless of the surgery type.

    The final decision on the IOL implantation in the aphakic eye can be made only after the detailed examination of the patient at the Center and after the detailed conversations with him.

  • The pathology of the anterior part of an eye.
  • As a rule, patients with the effects of severe penetrating eyes wounds. To eliminate them opticoreconstructive surgery is performed with a variety of volume rendered surgical benefits. These are: the separation of iridocorneal scars, iris plastic, eliminating mydriasis, cataract extraction, intraocular lens implantation, removal of cyclodialysis, and others.

  • Glaucoma.
  • The department conducts surgical treatment (in combination with laser methods) of all forms and stages of glaucoma. In most cases, we apply non-penetrative deep sclerectomy - a modern efficient and low-impact method.

    It should be noted that in more than half of the cases at different terms after the NDSE laser goniopuncture is required. In cases of angle-closure glaucoma with an organic blockade of the anterior chamber angle we use highly effective method of removing the lens (regardless of its transparency) with IOL implantation and reconstruction of the anterior chamber angle.

    The sinustrabeculectomy with basal iridectomy, the authors technique of Biryukov, is used in most cases.

  • The pathology of the retina and vitreous.
  • The pathology of the retina and vitreous. Retinal detachment in most cases is urgent condition. When identifying the disease the patient should be immediately directed to a consultation and possible treatment.

    The department carries out the whole range of modern surgical procedures for this type of ocular pathology. The indications for surgical intervention in the vitreous body are:

    1. retinal detachment, in which episcleral filling is non-effective (PVR> C2, giant retinal breaks, multiple breaks, the central retinal breaks);

    2. proliferative diabetic retinopathy, which is best treated surgically on the early stages;

    3. vitreous apoplexy (hemophthalmus) of various etiology;

    4. opacities of the vitreous body of different etiologies with visual acuity of 0.3 and lower or narrow fields of view (uveitis, hemophthalmia not resorbed after 3 months of intensive therapy);

    5. of bands, membranes in the vitreous body, which results in, or capable to lead to the tractional retinal detachment. Surgical treatment of retinal detachments include extrascleral surgery detachments and endoocular operations, as well as their combination.

  • Myopia.
  • With progressing myopia of II-III degree in 1,0 D or more per year operations to strengthen the sclera are performed.
