Basic activities

RRCRM&HE "is the umbrella organization under the heading" Scientific support medical problems consequences of the Chernobyl disaster "State Program for overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, and carries out activities aimed at coordinating and improving the efficiency of research in the Republic of Belarus on this issue. Key research areas are devoted to the comprehensive study of health effects of Chernobyl and maintained in the following areas:

1. Monitoring the health of the population exposed to adverse environmental factors, including radiation, the Chernobyl disaster.

2. Scientific support of the clinical examination of the victim of the Chernobyl disaster in the Republic of Belarus and to ensure continuity of specialized medical care.

3. Assessing the impact of environmental, human and technological factors on the health of the population of Belarus, holding long-term epidemiological studies of radiation to detect and predict long-term radiation effects. Scientific rationale for forming risk groups among the population exposed to man-made and man-made environmental factors, taking into account relevant data registers.

4. Scientific and technical maintenance of the core registers: the National Registry of persons exposed to radiation as a result of the Chernobyl disaster, Dosimetry Registry and Uniform Chernobyl Registry of Russia.

5. Evaluation and reconstruction of doses to the population exposed to the radiation factor due to the Chernobyl accident.

6. Conducting scientific studies on the pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, medical rehabilitation of diseases and conditions caused by exposure to different anthropogenic, man-made environmental factors on the basis of evidence-based medicine using modern techniques and medical technologies.

7. Develop and implement a practical public health in Belarus of modern methods of molecular genetic testing for hereditary predisposition to various diseases, including cancer, as well as improved methods of early diagnosis of diseases caused by gene mutations.

8. Scientific, technical, analytical and information support activities of organizations and institutions of the Republic of Belarus on the problems of radiation and environmental medicine.

9. Coordination of research in the field of radiation and environmental health in Belarus, international cooperation, expert and referent at the international level.
