The concept 'extracorporal hemocorrection' is widely used in clinical practice meaning transphysiological operation of the directed changing of cellular, protein, albuminous, electrolyte and gas blood structure by its processing outside the body. The term 'efferent therapy' is used also in literature. It unites various methods directed on decrease of toxicity of organism environment and removing of pathological complexes (circulating immune complexes, myoglobin, and blood corpuscles at hematological diseases) through using of traditional means or modern physicotechnical systems. Removal of pathological complexes, correction and maintenance of a hemostasis are achieved by various methods.

In RRCRM & HE there is a Department of Hemocorrection and Hyperbaric Oxygenation which is equipped with the complex facilities for providing efferent therapy for patients with acute hepatic and renal insufficiency of various genesis, sepsis, system diseases of connective tissue, hematological diseases: devices for hemosorption, hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, hyperbaric systems, etc.

Highly qualified doctors - experts, skilled medical nurses work in the department. The methods of extracorporal blood clarification in combination with other kinds of treatment allow improving patients' health status quickly assisting to their recovery.

The basic methods of treatment used in Hemocorrection Department and Hyperbaric Oxygenation:

  • hemodialysis,
  • hemosorption,
  • plasmapheresis

  • Plasmapheresis is a method of extracorporal hemocorrection based on replacement of blood plasma of the patient with the components, blood preparations or blood substitutes.

    It is applied in treatment of the following conditions:

  • Heavy decompensated stages of endotoxicosis of various genesis;
  • Heavy generalized forms of infectious diseases;
  • Chronic autoimmune diseases: bronchial asthma, system diseases of connective tissue, hematological diseases, atrophic arthritis, psoriasis, allergic diseases of various genesis;
  • Paraproteinemy;
  • Chronic endotoxicosis at diseases of liver, kidneys, lungs, etc.;
  • Total myolysis, hemolysis at poisoning by hemolytic poison, crush syndrome , etc.;
  • Hypercholesterolemia;
  • Podagra

  • Hemodialysis is a method of correction based on a principle of diffuse exchange and filtration transfer of low-molecular substances and water through semipermeable membrane from blood circulating extracorporally into dialyzing solution.

    Hemodialysis is applied in treatment of the following conditions:

  • Sharp renal insufficiency of any genesis;
  • Terminal stage of chronic renal insufficiency;
  • Hyperkaliemia caused by kidneys function insufficiency;
  • Acute poisonings by hydrophilic poisons, medicines, alcohols, technical liquids;
  • Rough disorders of water-electrolytic balance at lack of traditional therapy effect.

  • Hemosorption is a method of extracorporal hemocorrection based on removing of toxic substances of endogenous or exogenous nature from patient's blood by its extracorporal perfusion through sorbent.

    It is applied in treatment of the following conditions:

  • Therapeutic and surgical endotoxisois at early stages of development (acute pancreatitis, cholecystitis, peritonitis, sepsis, etc.);
  • Acute poisonings with somnolent medicines, alkaloids , salicylates, salts of heavy metals, etc.;
  • Abstinence syndrome at drug addiction, drug and alcohol abuse;
  • Maniacal and depressive states at mental diseases.
  • Combination of methods of extracorporeal blood correction allows to optimize the expected effects of therapy.
