Kidney Transplantation

Since October 2012, a new high-tech type of surgical activity - kidney transplantation - has been available at the Republican Research Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology.. This type of surgical care is extremely necessary for patients with end-stage chronic renal failure, including those on various types of renal replacement therapy (peritoneal dialysis, programmed hemodialysis) which is expensive and significantly reducing the quality and life expectancy. Kidney transplantation is an established treatment method that can significantly improve the quality and life expectancy of these patients. RRCRM&HE has all the necessary high-tech equipment necessary for this type of surgical care. The surgical department accommodates 10 specialized beds. A consultative appointment with a nephrologist is organized to determine the tactics of managing patients before and after transplantation, to implement not only postoperative immunosuppression, but also rehabilitation. The team involved in kidney transplantation includes about 20 specialists - surgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, nephrologists, urologists, doctors of ultrasound diagnostics, a clinical diagnostic laboratory and a laboratory of molecular genetics. All doctors were trained at the Republican Center for Organ and Tissue Transplantation.

RRCRM&HE provides the full scope of examinations necessary for placing on the kidney transplant waitlist, for performing this high-tech type of surgical activity and monitoring in the postoperative period.
